Joy comes in the morning

Joy comes in the morning

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” – Psalm 30:5

I have a dear friend and sister in Christ who lost her husband to diabetes and kidney failure. She and her husband pastored a growing Christian church in the Philippines at one time. But when her husband died, she was initially hurt and discouraged. She had to take over as head of her family and church ministry. It was very difficult at first, yet she did not lose hope. She trusted God to be faithful in the midst of her difficult season and circumstances.

“When my husband was struggling with his illness, I asked God many questions” says Rosana. “Why Lord? Why did you take my husband? He was faithful to serve you. He loved you so much!” Then one day I said to God, ‘Let your will be done. You know what is better for my husband.’ Three months of pain and suffering later, God took him and placed him in His presence. And I know today he is enjoying himself in the presence of our Almighty God.”

Eventually, the Lord restored her life and provided for her needs. She is happy and thriving again in ministry by the grace of God.

How about you? Does pain make you bitter, or better?

When you get hurt, do you withdraw into a shell and wallow in self-pity, anger or resentment? Or, do you accept your painful circumstances, trust God to make a new way for you, and give you the grace and strength to be happy again?

Remaining steadfast in your faith can turn the most difficult life experience into a blessing in disguise. God wants us to adjust our bad attitudes and not accept temporary defeat. Instead, we must keep pressing on and moving forward until we win the prize.

The Lord also reminds us that, “we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” – Romans 8:28

No matter what hurt or pain you’re experiencing today, run to God immediately and pray. He is loving and compassionate, our refuge and strength, a very present help in our time of trouble (Psalm 46:1,2).

COMMENT from Hema: “That is how things happened in my life. Our God n father takes care detail when you are a widow. I am so grateful for His love n support.  Jesus never stops in His care for our lives. The emotional, mental and physical strain in single parenting as I thought it was…..was actually not. God is my husband and there is no way I’m doing this alone. When my husband died the weight of his responsibilities at church became mine.  I suffered under that weight. Today I am victorious because of my God. Helping others cope in this cruel world. “
