Humble yourself in the sight of God

Humble yourself in the sight of God

Humble yourself in the sight of God and He shall lift you up.

Have you ever heard of the expression, “Proud as a peacock?” It is used of a person who is self-centered or has too high an opinion about themselves. They strut about with excessive self-esteem and look down upon others who they perceive as inferior to them.

An exaggerated opinion of yourself

The apostle Paul warned the Christians in Rome about their sin of conceit and a wrong attitude of superiority. He wrote:

“I warn everyone among you not to estimate and think of yourself more highly than you ought to [not to have an exaggerated opinion of your own importance], but to rate your ability with sober judgment, each according to the degree of faith apportioned by God to him.” – Romans 12:3

We are living in an age where men are lovers of themselves more than lovers of God (2 Timothy 3:2). Modesty and humility is considered to be a weakness. If someone is meek and humble in character, they aren’t considered to be a “go-getter” or someone to be admired.

Actually, the opposite is true. The prideful person is an offense to God. God opposes the proud but gives more grace to the humble (James 4:6). God calls us to be modest, unpretentious and sober-minded people, not thinking more highly of ourselves than we should. We should not be condescending towards others and treat people with the same dignity and respect that we wish to be treated.

The humility of Jesus

The life of Jesus is our greatest example. Although Jesus was the Son of God and fully divine, He willingly humbled Himself in order to indentify with humanity and bring salvation to His elect people. He treated everyone – rich or poor – with equal respect. Therefere, after finishing His work on the cross, God the Father, highly exalted Jesus, as He will also exalt us if we follow Christ’s example.

“And being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” – Philippians 2:8-11

Let us not be proud and haughty as many people are today. They strut around like peacocks showing off their money, expensive clothes, and other material possessions, and caring only for themselves. History teaches that many men have had their fortunes come to nothing because they became prideful and selfish and did not humble themself before God.

Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, made this mistake once, and he later regretted it. The Bible tells us that when he became proud of the kingdom he’d built and began boasting about it, God humbled him with mental illness. Because of his arrogance, he lost his mind and became like a beast. He even lived with the animals of the field, and ate grass like oxen. After 7 years, God restored his mind once again and He was able to repent of His pride and give God the glory. You can read the entire account in Daniel chapter 4.

So let us always walk humbly before our God and give Him the glory for all the blessings He his has bestowed. Let us also deal compassionately with others and be merciful to those who need our help. We must not forget the words of Jesus Christ, our Lord, who taught us that “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:5-8

One day God will send the right soulmate

The right soulmate

One day God will send the right soulmate into your life and you’ll understand why it was worth the wait.

A soulmate is a person with whom you form a connection so strong that you are drawn to them in a way you have never encountered before with anyone else. You experience a love so deep, strong and complex, that you begin to doubt that you have ever truly loved before. This will involve similarity, love, romance, comfort, intimacy, sexuality, spirituality, compatibility and trust.

Was it worth the the wait? You bet.

Should you settle for anything less? Of course not.

Is God trustworthy? Absolutely!

“Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to act.” – Psalm 37:7

“For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality…” – 1 Thessalonians 4:3

Is it a good idea, or a God idea?

Is it a good idea or God idea

Is it a good idea, or a GOD idea?

Did you know that sometimes good ideas can turn out to be a disaster? Yes, it happens all the time. I must confess that it has happened to me – more than once or twice.

I have learned to be very careful about making a final decision to go ahead with something before I’ve had a chance to really pray about a so-called, “good idea.” I have made a number of bad choices because I have relied on simple feelings and logic, instead of on God’s direction.

Many times we think instructions to do something are coming from God, when in reality, they are coming from a satanic source. The devil is a master at deceiving Christians in order to get us out of the will of God for our lives. Many bad or foolish decisions – and actions – get blamed on God when people say, “God told me to do it!” 1 John 4:1 tells us, “Don’t always believe every message you hear just because someone says it is a message from God; test it first to see if it really is.” And, in James 5:15 we also read, “Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

So before you make an important decision – especially a life- altering one – make sure you have prayed about it for a good long time. You need to make sure that God is indeed behind it before you go ahead. Learn how to discern God’s voice, because sometimes, it can also have eternal consequences.

A good idea is only good, if it’s also a “GOD idea.”

My God Shall Supply

My God shall supply

Today, are you concerned about some financial need? Maybe you need to pay off a debt, or meet some monetary commitment? Do not fret nor worry; talk to God about it in prayer. God the Father is faithful to take care of His children’s material needs, as well as their spiritual needs, as you present them to Him.

When we are in union with Jesus Christ and His divine fellowship, we will experience God’s unreserved provision in ALL things.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” “My God shall supply all your needs according to His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6;19

God has said, “Every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills” (Psalm 50:10). It reminds us, that, if God owns the cattle on a thousand hills, EVERYTHING belongs to God. Even the wealth of the wicked is stored up for His righteous children! Oh, you of little faith, is it too hard for God to take care of your material needs too? Would a loving father allow His children to go hungry? Of course not.

In addition, the “supplying of every need out of the riches” of God’s love also has its consummation in the glory of the future, for “No eye has seen, nor ear has heard, neither has entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)

Humbly pray and present your needs before your heavenly Father today. Stand in faith upon the promises of God’s love and mercy. Cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.

By Constant Self-Discipline

By Constant Self Discipline

BY CONSTANT SELF-DISCIPLINE and SELF-CONTROL you develop greatness of character and avoid much pain.

In today’s hedonistic mindset of, “If it feels good, do it”, the concept of SELF-DENIAL and SELF-DISCIPLINE seems quite strange. That’s because many people are bent on seeking to satisfy every imaginable carnal pleasure – such as drink, drugs, parties, and sensuality without considering the long-term consequences of such a lifestyle.

We must never forget that not everything we desire is good for us. There are many things that appear to be pleasurable to our senses that must be avoided, since they are actually self-destructive and eventually will cause us great pain.

For instance, if we overeat or eat the wrong kind of food we will ultimately get fat and die from a heart attack. If we smoke cigarettes, we will develop lung cancer. If we sleep too much, we get lazy, and our muscles atrophy. If we indulge in sexual immorality, we will ineviatably contract some form of deadly disease, and so on.

Therefore, not every form of desire, passion, or whim is actually good for us. We must be careful to make wise choices.

It is true that God wants us to enjoy life to the the fullest, but He has also warned us against self-indulgent living, and to abstain from certain things which will do us harm.

“If you live after the hedonistic desires of the flesh, you shall die: but if you through the Spirit do mortify the evil deeds of the body, you shall live.” – Romans 8:13

The word mortification means putting to death the evil inclinations of the mind and body. It requires self-discipline and self-control. It is a continual process that every Christian must engage in on a daily basis. Only those who keep the Law of God will enjoy a long, happy, and prosperous life, as well as eternal life in heaven. In doing so, they will develop greatness of character and avoid much pain.

A gentle answer avoids anger

A Gentle Answer

“A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words stirs up wrath.” – Proverbs 15:1

God wants us to be gentle people and peacemakers. It is not enough to avoid unnecessary arguments and strife, but when others try to begin a fight with us, we should try to deflect their harsh words with a gentle answer.

If we respond to harsh words with more harsh words, it raises a passion and flames the fury.

The general principle is to avoid contentions with others that commonly arise from pride, ambitions, jealosy, and sinful emotions, and try to preserve the peace – as much as possible. Matthew Henry once said, “A right cause will be better pleaded with meekness rather than with passion.”

It’s easy to find a new lover, but…

Its easy to find a new lover

It’s easy to find a new lover, but it’s harder to find an excellent lifetime spouse.

“An excellent wife {or husband) who can find? He or She is far more precious than gold or jewels. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of his life. Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a man or woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” – Proverbs 31:10-31

Although this Bible passage in Proverbs 31 was written from a man’s perspective – when looking for a good wife – many of the virtues described here can also apply to a woman looking for a good husband to marry as well.

In summary, look for someone with the following qualities:

– Faithful to God

– Faithful to the church

– Faithful to his or her spouse

– Loving, gentle, considerate, trustworthy, and kind

– Morally upright, truthful, and honest

– Peace loving disposition; not argumentive or easily angered

– Harworking, not lazy

– Generous and compassionate to the needy; not selfish

– Intelligent and wise

– Attractive and affectionate

Most importantly, pray and ask God to confirm your choice of a life partner. He has just the right person you need to make you happy. Don’t rush into marrying someone that’s not God’s choice for you.

God created man in His own image

God created man in His own image

God created man in His own image, male and female, He created them.

Mankind is not just a superior type of animal, we are far greater than that. We are spiritual beings, created in God’s image, with a soul and a spirit.

When God created us, He implanted something of Himself in each of us.

“God made man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female, He created them.” – Genesis 1:27

Not only do we have a body and a mind, but we also have a spirit. Since GOD IS SPIRIT, those who wish to worship God must do so in spirit and in truth, Jesus said, for the Father is looking for those who will worship Him that way. (John 4:23-24)

OUR SPIRIT sets us apart from every other living creature on this earth; it makes us UNIQUE. It is through our spirit that we can KNOW GOD and have intimate fellowship with the Creator of the universe.

God implanted part of Himself within you, so that you can know KNOW HIM PERSONALLY.

Do you know know God personally today? If not, pray and ask Jesus Christ to become your Savior and Lord. Amen.

There is no longer black or white

There is no longer black or white

I minister to people all over the world through my Internet ministry. Some come from Europe, others from Asia and India, others from the Middle East, and others from Africa, to name a few.

One fellow of the black race recently wrote me and said, “It’s really nice of you to talk to me…many white folks find it really tough to chat with a black fellow.”

It reminded of how much prejudice there still is in the world. Many people think they are better than others because of their skin color or race. This is very wrong! God loves ALL PEOPLE in the same way. We are all created in His image. Therefore, there is no more racial distinctions in Christ Jesus.

“There is no longer Jew or Gentile, {black or white}, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.” – Galatians 3:28

As Christians we must be careful about judging our brothers and sisters who are different from us. Jesus Christ loves people of all race and color. He died to save us all. We are all equal in Christ.

Let us pray for one another and love one another no matter what their race or nationality may be.

Comment from Huma in South Africa: “This is so true that many still have feelings that separates us instead of compassion and love. I pray for my country as it experiences many changes. That The true nature and love of God and what Jesus did on the cross would be taken into the hearts of those in leadership of our country.”

Trials build character

Trials build character

Trials build character. Courage keeps you strong. Faith gives you victory.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

This is a word of encouragement from the LORD today for many of you who are going through trials, persecutions, and other difficulties in your life.

Whatever you’re experiencing right now, God will turn it around for good. Do not be discouraged or diminish your faith. Remember that God loves you and will always be by your side to strengthen you and protect you. Be strong and courageous as a good soldier of Christ. Endure in faith until God gives you the victory. He is mighty and powerful, and will overcome all your enemies.

The LORD will never leave you nor forsake you. You are more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ! Amen.

“No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Joshua 1:5
