HOPE & INSPIRATION

If God created us in His image

If God created us in His image, are we more like Him, or He like us?

Many of the attributes of the one true God bear similarities to human qualities. However, God our heavenly Father’s attributes are incomparably greater than they are in us. That’s because we are still spiritual infants just learning to walk in the ways of God. It will take us a whole lifetime to be able to make substantial progress.

For instance, if God is love, we are able to love. But God is able to love to a much higher degree and intensity than we can. As we grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ we become more and more like God, manifesting higher and higher degrees of His attributes such as love, goodness, grace, compassion, patience, gentleness, truthfulness, faithfulness, and so on.

The important thing to guage is that our journey in Christ remains in a progressive trajectory, and that it is upward and not downward. If we remain in this pattern then we have the blessed hope that one day we shall become as He is.

CHOSEN OF GOD MINISTRIES

“So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord–who is the Spirit–makes us more and more like him as we are being transformed into His same image from one degree of glory to another.” – 2 Corinthians 3:18

“Beloved, now we are children of God, and it is not yet revealed what we will be. But we know that, when he is revealed, we will be like him…” – 1 John 3:2
